Ukraine's central bank keeps key rate at 6%

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has decided to keep its discount rate unchanged at 6%, according to NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko.
"The Board of the National Bank has decided to keep the discount rate unchanged at 6% per annum," Shevchenko said at a briefing on Thursday, October 22.
The NBU said that maintaining a soft monetary policy would support economic recovery amid moderate inflation.
The NBU approved a reduction in the discount rate to 6% on June 12, 2020. In April, the discount rate was reduced to 8%, in March - to 10%, on January 31 - to 11%. The key rate was also regularly cut in 2019. On April 25, 2019, the NBU lowered the discount rate by 0.5% to 17.5% per annum, for the first time in two years.
