Egypt is interested in deepening cooperation with Ukraine in the fields of tourism, culture and investment.

The Foreign Ministry’s press service reported this following a meeting of Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bodnar with an Egyptian delegation headed by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt Khaled al-Anani.

“The parties discussed the issues of a gradual restoration of tourism activities and ensuring safe conditions for Ukrainian tourists staying in Egypt in the context of the global COVID-19 pandemic, as well as protecting the rights and interests of Ukrainian citizens employed in tourism in Egypt. In the context of expanding the bilateral legal framework, the parties agreed to work on projects based on two memorandums in the field of tourism and cultural and historical heritage,” the statement says.

The delegations also discussed the possibility of organizing Ukrainian cultural events and expanding the use of Ukrainian language in the tourist regions of Egypt.

Special attention was paid to the prospect of further development of bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and investment. The deputy minister called on the Egyptian side to actively participate in investment activities and privatization projects in Ukraine.

Bodnar expressed gratitude to the Egyptian side for all-round assistance in the prompt organization of evacuation of more than 32,000 Ukrainian tourists from Egypt in March of this year due to the threat of spreading coronavirus.

The meeting was also attended by officials of a number of state institutions of Ukraine and representatives of the tourism industry of Ukraine.
