Ukraine should reduce industrial pollution by 22% by 2025.

The newly appointed minister for environmental protection and natural resources, Roman Abramovsky, said this after his appointment in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We have to prepare and are ready to submit a draft law on the control and reduction of industrial pollution. This is the implementation of the EU’s Industrial Emissions Directive. Industrial pollution should decrease by 22% by 2025," he said.

Ukraine is also implementing the Waste Framework Directive.

“It’s hard to say how many processing plants will be built. But we should create conditions for attracting private investments in the waste processing industry. This applies not only to household waste. Hazardous waste must be disposed of and recycled," the minister noted.

As reported, according to the State Statistics Service, in 2019, enterprises spent UAH 43.7 billion on the environment, which is 27% more than in 2018.
