The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) provided UAH 2.4 billion in refinancing to 11 banks for the period from one to five years, the central bank’s press service reported.

“On May 8, the National Bank held the first tender to provide long-term refinancing to banks without a limit on the amount. The amount of refinancing was limited only by the liquid collateral held by banks. Eleven banks participated in the tender, they received a total of almost UAH 2.4 billion for the period from one to five years,” reads the statement.

It notes that such support of long-term liquidity of banks by the NBU allows them to more actively make long-term investments and provide loans to the real sector of the economy, which suffered losses during the global crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The next tender for long-term refinancing will take place on June 12, 2020, according to the NBU’s press service.
