The Cabinet of Ministers allowed regions to direct subventions of the social and economic development primarily for the fight against the coronavirus spread.

Relevant amendments to the procedure and conditions for granting subsidies to the social and economic development of the regions are envisaged in the government’s resolution as of April 8, according to the Government portal.

"These amendments provide for primarily direction of the subvention to implement measures aimed at combating coronavirus infection," reads the document.

In addition, the resolution eliminates the need for mandatory co-financing from local budgets of projects and activities financed by the subvention.

The government stressed that the regions received an additional financial instrument to counteract the spread of the coronavirus disease.

"Due to the exclusion of mandatory co-financing of projects from local budgets, the subvention should be used by regions more effectively - in accordance with the needs and priorities defined in the regions," the Cabinet of Ministers stressed.

As of 09:00 on April 10, Ukraine had 2,203 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 69 lethal cases and 61 cases of recovery.
