Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) plans to perform cargo operations, UIA President Yevhenii Dykhne announced.

"Against the backdrop of a critical decline in passenger traffic, cargo and especially humanitarian operations have intensified: many passenger aircraft are being transformed into freight by adapting their cabins. The UIA plans to operate the first such flight in the near future, he added.

Dykhne reported that Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Georgia, Russia, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom completely closed their borders and airspace for international flights in March. The air traffic with huge restrictions is still possible between the Eurozone countries in Germany, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.

As reported, the quarantine to counteract the spread of Covid-19 coronavirus infection has been introduced in Ukraine since March 12, 2020.

On March 16, 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine banned intercity passenger transportation by all means of transport and conduct of mass events in the entire territory of the country.

On March 25, the emergency situation regime was introduced across Ukraine. The quarantine has been extended until April 24.

Since March 28, Ukraine has completely closed the border for scheduled passenger services, but it is still possible to cross the border on a private car or by foot.
