Demand for electric vehicles in Ukraine grows by a third in January - Ukrautoprom
“In the first month of 2020, Ukrainians bought 587 electric vehicles powered solely by an electric motor, which is a threefold increase year-on-year,” reads the report.
Ukrautoprom notes that such growth was due to the increase in registrations of used cars (+37%), while the demand for new electric vehicles slightly decreased (-5%). As a result, the share of new cars in the January passenger car market made up 6% against 8% in 2019.
In January 2020, Nissan Leaf was the best-selling electric vehicle in Ukraine, 216 such cars received license plates.
The second, third and fourth places in the ranking were occupied by vehicles of the American company Tesla: Model S - 58 vehicles, Model 3 – 41 vehicles, and Model X - 34 vehicles.
Chevrolet Bolt took the fifth place, with 32 such cars sold.
According to Ukrautoprom, Ukrainians registered 441 electric vehicles in January 2019, which is 2.3 times higher than in January 2018.
In 2019, a total of 7,542 electric vehicles powered solely by an electric motor were registered in Ukraine.
