Zelensky tells Turkish business about investment 'magnets' in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Turkish business to invest in the Ukrainian economy, including in the privatization of state-owned enterprises.

He stated this at the Ukrainian-Turkish business forum in Kyiv on Monday, February 3, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"I am sure that the investment sphere provides the greatest prospects for economic partnership between Ukraine and Turkey today. It is not only about the creation of joint ventures, but also about the active participation of Turkish companies in the privatization process. Our call is 'invest now'," Zelensky said.

He also said that the Ukrainian authorities were initiating a number of innovations to improve the investment climate. These include, for example, five-year tax holidays for investors that will privatize state-owned enterprises for at least $10 million in the next two years.

In addition, other "magnets" for potential investors, Zelensky said, include the Investment Nanny project and the initiative to quickly return the investment in modernization - from two to five years instead of 10 years and 12 years respectively.

In addition, the president called on Turkish entrepreneurs to join concession projects.

"We are currently preparing new tenders for airports and seaports, as well as concession road projects," he said.

Zelensky said Ukraine planned to launch the land market and, in his opinion, although foreigners will not have the right to buy land, they will be able to "invest in the processing of agricultural products."

At the same time, the president stressed that annual trade between Ukraine and Turkey is over $4 billion, with the goal being $10 billion.
