PM Honcharuk looks forward to progress in talks with IMF this year
"I think that we are very close to reaching an agreement with our colleagues at the working level, of course... I am optimistic about the timing and I think that progress will be made this year surely," Honcharuk said at a briefing after the Government meeting, when asked whether he expects final agreements on a new program of cooperation with the IMF to be reached as a result of the visit of the IMF mission, an Ukrinform correspondent informs.
He also believes there has been huge progress in the cooperation with the IMF over the past two months: "we understand each other much better, I expect this work to deliver results in the near future."
As reported, on November 14, the IMF mission led by Ron van Rooden arrived in Kyiv to continue the discussion about the possibility of opening a new Extended Fund Facility (EFF) for Ukraine.
The National Bank stated that Ukraine should conclude a new long-term cooperation program with the International Monetary Fund totaling $5-10 billion. According to the NBU forecasts, the first tranche under this program could be received by the end of 2019. The National Bank expects it to be about $2 billion.
