Groysman argues against attempts to ‘make adjustments’ to decentralization reform
“What the united communities are? The budgets of these communities have increased from fivefold to sevenfold. These communities can provide quality services to everyone. Now only 70% of Ukrainians enjoy the benefits of decentralization. There are leadership and responsibility in these communities,” Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said, the Government portal reports.
Today it is important to complete the reform, complete the unification of the communities and eliminate the administrations that obstruct the reform and the desire of people to live better, the Prime Minister stressed.
“I know that now some people express a desire to ‘make adjustments’ to the reform. I disagree with that. I argue against any attempts to block the reform,” the Head of Government said.
Since the introduction of the reform in 2014, the local budgets have grown from UAH 70 billion to almost UAH 270 billion. 1.5 million hectares of agricultural land were transferred to the ownership of communities.
