Government allocates UAH 32 mln for financial audit of Ukroboronprom
"Today we will submit to the Ukrainian parliament a draft law on the transparent work of Ukroboronprom: everything that concerns military issues and procurement in this area, everything that we promised at the previous government meeting. And we will allocate UAH 32 million for Ukroboronprom on returnable basis so that Ukroboronprom can launch a financial audit, a comprehensive financial audit of its activities,” Groysman said at a government meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
As Ukrinform reported, on February 25, journalists of the Nashi Hroshi (Our Money) program disclosed a "long-term scheme of laundering hundreds of millions of hryvnias" from Ukraine's defense sector. Later, former President Petro Poroshenko initiated an audit of the State Concern Ukroboronprom with the participation of international experts.
On March 16, the president’s decree was signed to enact the relevant decision by the National Security and Defense Council as of March 6 "On reforming the defense industry and raising the level of transparency of the state defense order," which refers to the audit of Ukroboronprom.
On April 26, the Verkhovna Rada registered a bill proposing to liquidate Ukroboronprom and determine the powers of the central executive authority that will ensure the formation and implementation of the state military and industrial policy.
Ukroboronprom Director General Pavlo Bukin declared readiness for audit.
