Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Takashi Kurai said this at a meeting with Ecology and Natural Resources Minister of Ukraine Ostap Semerak, the press service of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine reported.

"Ambassador Takashi Kurai has assured that Japan is ready to remain a reliable partner of Ukraine in matters relating to environmental protection and strengthening environmental safety," the report says.

During the meeting, Semerak, in particular, noted that the two countries had been closely cooperating for a long time and exchanging experience in the field of environmental rehabilitation of territories affected by man-made disasters at nuclear power plants in Chornobyl and Fukushima.

“The issues of transformation of the exclusion zone, development of renewable energy in these areas and setting the Object Shelter into operation are very important for us. These are significant results that Ukraine has achieved in the field of radiation safety. We are open to any dialogue and cooperation with all partners in this matter, because our main priorities are environmental protection and safety,” Semerak noted.
