Boeing 737 MAX 8 crash: UIA to receive three airplanes of same model by year-end
"The approved plans of the UIA provides for the delivery of three new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft directly from the Boeing factory in Seattle. The first airplane is expected to be delivered by the end of this month, and another two - by the end of 2019," UIA spokesperson Yevhenia Satska told Ukrinform.
As the spokesperson added, the UIA closely monitors the course of the investigation and is in constant dialogue with the aircraft manufacturer as the safety of flights and passengers on board is a priority for the Ukraine International Airlines.
As BBC reports, March 10, the Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 crashed shortly after take-off from Addis Ababa, killing all 149 passengers and eight crew members on board. The exact causes of the crash are still unknown.
Another plane of the same model was involved in a crash less than five months ago, when a Lion Air flight crashed into the sea near Indonesia with nearly 190 people on board.
The UK, Australia, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Mexican carrier Aeromexico and several other airlines have decided to suspend the use of Boeing 737 Max 8 after the crash in Ethiopia.
