This year will be difficult for investors due to political uncertainty - NBU
NBU First Deputy Head Kateryna Rozhkova said this at a briefing on Thursday, January 31, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"We understand that the year 2019 will be difficult because of political uncertainty and it will be difficult, first of all, for investors, both external and internal. We expect the increased activity of investors after the presidential and parliamentary elections, and we even envisage a slight increase in foreign direct investment," Rozhkova said.
She stressed that it is important for the country and for the economy as a whole that a person who wins the presidential election pursue the policy aimed at preserving macroeconomic and financial stability.
Foreign direct investment in Ukraine in the first half of 2018 amounted to $1.3 billion.
As was reported earlier, the NBU does not see any problems for continuing cooperation with any president or parliament, so the governor of the regulator, Yakiv Smolii, is ready to continue work in his post after the election.
