NBU purchased almost $3.2 bln in interbank FX market in 2018

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) purchased almost USD 3.2 billion in the interbank foreign exchange market in 2018, the central bank’s press service reports.

“In 2018, the NBU purchased almost USD 3.2 billion in the interbank foreign exchange market, including over USD 699 million through interventions held in the form of a request for best quotation,” reads the report.

Also, the NBU last year sold USD 1.8 billion in the interbank foreign exchange market, including USD 333 million through interventions in the form of a request for best quotation.

Interventions in the form of a request for best quotation have been carried out since the beginning of 2017. They were introduced in accordance with the NBU’s Foreign Exchange Market Intervention Strategy for 2016-2020.
