The Government has a long-term strategic goal that Ukraine pays off all its commitments on previous borrowings and does not take loans from international partners.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said this on the air the Inter TV Channel, the Government portal reported.

"My strategic goal is to make Ukraine get rid of all external loans. We approved a debt management strategy, and in 2021 we see it real – the debt should be less than 50% of GDP. This means that we will move to another category of countries - with serious stability," the head of government assured.

According to Groysman, Ukraine is confidently entering the year 2019. “My task now is to make our economy work with highest efficiency,” he stressed.

According to the NBU, Ukraine in 2019-2020 has to pay off about USD 12 billion in foreign debt, including interest payments.
