New project supported by USAID contributes to economic development of Luhansk region

Acting Chairman of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Serhiy Fil and Head of the International Technical Assistance Project "Economic Support for Eastern Ukraine" Michael Pillsbury signed a memorandum of cooperation.

“We are very interested in continuing effective cooperation with this organization. Thanks to its support a number of projects have been already implemented in the territory of Luhansk region. I am sure that our new project will be also very interesting and useful,” the acting chairman of the Luhansk Regional Military and Civil Administration said.

In turn, Michael Pillsbury, the project manager represented by DAI Global LLC, noted that the project of economic support for eastern Ukraine would be based on the experience of previous developments by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). According to him, it is important to cooperate with projects the implementation of which continues in the region.

A part of the project will be aimed at restoring objects damaged during the hostilities. But the main task is to help entrepreneurship, in particular, agricultural, small and medium businesses in the search for markets in order to increase sales and create new jobs.

In 2017, more than 2,000 business entities received grant assistance worth almost UAH 17 million.
