Ukraine, France determine priorities of cooperation in agricultural sector for next year
A joint statement was signed following the work of the Ukrainian-French working group with the participation of Deputy Agrarian Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine for European Integration Olha Trofimtseva and, on the French side, General Director of the General Directorate for Economic and Environmental Performance of Enterprises (DGPE) Valérie Metrich-Hecquet, the press service of the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine reported.
"Today, France takes the sixth place among the EU countries with the largest share of foreign trade turnover of agricultural products with Ukraine. In addition to opportunities to increase these indicators and to diversify the structure of trade, our countries have many promising directions for cooperation in the agricultural sector," Trofimtseva said.
The parties determined priority directions for further partnership in this field between the countries. They agreed on the development of innovations and technologies in the agricultural sector through the projects implemented by the private sector and innovation operators; the structuring of grape growing and winemaking industry on the basis of French experience; the development of production with protected geographical indications.
According to the results of eight months of 2018, the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to France amounted to USD 170.6 million, while the export of French agricultural products to Ukraine totaled USD 173.8 million.
