Ukrzaliznytsia to sustain no losses from cessation of rail services with Russia - Omelyan
He stated this during a press conference on Monday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"These eight trains, which [now] run in the Russian direction, could have become a significant relief for Ukrainian citizens who want to travel inside the country. They would generate at least the same profit, and, I suppose, even larger than they are now generating in the eastern direction," Omelyan said.
The minister noted that there is currently unsatisfied demand for domestic transportation within Ukraine, especially in the western direction. Therefore, in his opinion, Ukrzaliznytsia will not suffer any losses from the possible cessation of railway services with Russia.
Omelyan stressed that he continued to hold the view about the need to close transport services with Russia, but noted that the timing of such a decision had not yet been discussed.
"As soon as a respective decision is made, we will definitely announce it," he added.
