The EU Council has agreed with the European Parliament upon conditions for allocation of EUR 1 billion in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.

"A loan worth EUR 1 billion should meet the financial needs of Ukraine for a period of 2.5 years. The loans will contribute to the economic stabilization and the implementation of the structural reform program in addition to the resources allocated by the IMF and other donors," the EU Council said, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to the procedure, the European Parliament will approve a final decision on granting macro-financial assistance to Ukraine at its plenary session.

The vote is expected to take place in June.
