Ukraine should remain gas transit country – Berlin

Germany is interested in the fact that Ukraine retains the position of a transit country of Russian gas to Europe.
German Government Spokesman Steffen Seibert stated this at a briefing in Berlin on Tuesday, Ukrinform reports.
"It is important that Ukraine continues to play the role of a transit country," he said.
At the same time, Seibert notes that it is important for Ukraine to take steps to reform its gas transportation system in order to create the appropriate framework infrastructure conditions to remain a transit country on a long-term basis.
He also stresses that Ukrainian and Russian sides should conduct "constructive negotiations".
