Ukraine wants to open trade office in Canada

Ukraine should delegate its trade representative to Canada to promote the development of economic relations between the two states, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said.

The head of government stated this during his visit to Toronto, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I am ready to support the idea of a trade representative of Ukraine, because our opportunities in Canada should be strengthened. This is a country with which we have recently created a free trade area. We should make the most of it, and such a mission should be set up," Groysman said.

He asked Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko to consider this initiative.

"We are ready to offer such opportunities," Groysman said.

As Ukrinform reported, Groysman is on a multi-day visit to Canada, where he is scheduled to have a number of meetings with state leaders, community and business representatives.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said during his visit to Canada last month that Ukraine planned to open a consulate general in the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta, Edmonton.
