The Government of Ukraine believes that Ukraine has a huge potential of attracting investments in solar, wind energy, transition to alternative fuels, which would help to halve the country’s gas consumption.

Vice Prime Minister - Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Hennadiy Zubko said this during the SEF 2017 KYIV - 9th Sustainable Energy Forum, the Government portal informs.

"Today, Ukraine has huge potential of attracting investments in solar, wind energy, transition to alternative fuels. There is an opportunity to switch to decentralized energy supply in cities. Therefore, now the task of the state is to create conditions for reducing consumption of energy resources and modernization of energy supply systems, already having the appropriate conditions and financing," Zubko said.

As the Vice PM stated, the residential sector currently consumes 18 billion cubic meters of gas.

"We see the prospects for halving gas consumption due to using renewable energy and reducing consumption through thermo modernization of houses," Zubko said.
