Area of winter crops in annexed Crimea drops 85%

The agroindustrial complex of Crimea continues to see destructive processes as a result of Russia’s occupation of the peninsula. In particular, the area of ​​winter crops in Crimea has dropped 85% this year compared to 2014.

Such data have been presented in the report by the National Space Facilities Control and Test Center under the State Space Agency of Ukraine. The results of the research have been published on the website of the Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories.

"Having processed the satellite data, a gradual decrease in the area covered by healthy productive vegetation in the territory of Crimea was found. As of 2017, such areas in the annexed Crimea decreased 6.7 times compared to 2014, and the volume of winter crops cultivation in Crimea decreased by 85 percent during 2014-2017," the report says.

As noted, the weather conditions on the peninsula during the studied period of time were satisfactory.
