Zubko offers to reduce cost of gas by introducing competition and energy efficiency

It is possible to reduce the cost of gas for the end-consumer by introducing a competition in the gas market and an energy efficiency reform.

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services Hennadiy Zubko said this during an Hour of questions to the government, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"How can we reduce the cost of gas? There are two options. First of all, we have to create a gas market. As of today, there is one monopoly company, and there are 15 million Ukrainian households that receive gas. It is necessary to create competition in the market and then to reduce the price of gas," Zubko said.

The energy efficiency should become the second direction of the work, according to Zubko.

"We can control the amount of gigacalories only due to the energy efficiency reform," the deputy prime minister said.
