Deposit Guarantee Fund returned about UAH 81 billion to bankrupt banks' depositors

The Deposit Guarantee Fund over the last three years paid off about UAH 81 billion to depositors of insolvent banks.

Andriy Olenchyk, Deposit Guarantee Fund deputy managing director, stated this at a press conference dedicated to the presentation of an updated Comprehensive Program of Financial Sector Development until 2020, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Over the past three years, we’ve made payments worth over UAH 81 billion to more than 1.5 million depositors,” said Olenchyk.

As earlier reported, the Deposit Guarantee Fund took out loans from the National Bank and the Finance Ministry to pay off guaranteed funds to insolvent banks' depositors. At present, the Fund owes more than UAH 69 billion to the mentioned establishments.
