Minister Nasalyk: Ukraine's proven natural gas reserves estimated at 950 bcm

Ukraine's proven natural gas reserves total at least 950 billion cubic meters.
Minister for Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Ihor Nasalyk said this during a year-end news conference, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We have 950 billion cubic meters of protected gas reserves. But we produce only 2%. Transferring to 4% will give Ukraine 40 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Funds are needed to do this - and they have been allocated due to the increase in tariffs,” Nasalyk said.
According to him, Ukraine will be able to completely stop importing gas as early as by 2020, as envisaged in government’s programs.
