Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine,Valeriya Gontareva has said the inflation rate by the end of 2016 is expected to reach the level of 12%, as earlier predicted.

“In January 2016, the inflation rate totaled 0.9% and was close to the NBU forecast for this year. Such a development of inflation processes mostly corresponded to a trajectory predicted by the NBU of slowing down of consumer inflation to the level of 12% by the end 2016,” Gontareva told a press conference in the central bank, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The NBU governor also noted that the weakening of inflationary processes in recent months occurred due to the retention of a restrained policy of regulator and weak domestic demand. According to Gontareva, increased tensions in the foreign exchange market in January-February 2016 "have not had a significant impact on the level of inflation."
