Ukraine has largest gas reserves in Europe - Kobolev
KYIV, March 24 /Ukrinform/. As of March 22, the gas reserves in the underground gas storage facilities in Ukraine amounted to 7.74 billion cubic meters, showing the largest figure among the European countries.
NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine has reported this information, referring to CEO Andriy Kobolev.
"Ukraine has not only managed to decently survive through the heating season under the harsh conditions of confrontation with Russia and fighting in the east of the country. We have succeeded in reducing greatly the dependence on imports from the Russian Federation thanks to the expansion of supplies from Europe. Furthermore, there are 11% more gas reserves in Ukrainian storage facilities than on the same date last year," he said.
According to Kobolev, Germany has the second largest gas reserves among the European countries - 7.15 billion cubic meters and Italy - the third (6 billion cubic meters).
