Ukraine, Poland to open two border checkpoints by end of 2013
KYIV, August 21 /Ukrinform/. Ukraine and Poland are planning to open two border checkpoints in the fourth quarter of 2013, in particular, the Uhryniv-Dolhobyczow and Hrushiv-Budomierz crossings.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said this at a government meeting on Wednesday, Ukrinform reported.
"In the fourth quarter of the year it is planned to open the Uhryniv-Dolhobyczow and Hrushiv-Budomierz crossings on the Ukrainian-Polish border. The Hrushiv-Budomierz international automobile checkpoint will be a modern one not only on the Ukrainian-Polish border, but also along the entire eastern border of Poland. Its capacity will be about 3,000 vehicles per day, which will help relieve other checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border," Azarov said.
In addition, the prime minister said that the construction of a unique Beskydsky Tunnel, which is part of the fifth pan-European transport corridor Trieste-Ljubljana-Budapest-Uzhgorod-Lviv-Kyiv-Moscow, had already begun. The tunnel will be nearly two kilometers long, he added.
