No problems with customs control of Ukrainian goods on border with Russia yet, customs authorities say
KYIV, August 21 /Ukrinform/. The Ministry of Revenue and Duties of Ukraine has agreed with the Federal Customs Service of Russia on the abolition of additional control procedures during the border crossing of Ukrainian goods and reopening of the regular cargo clearance, according to the Information-Analytical Bulletin of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
"The severity of the problem situation has been removed," the report reads. It is noted that a delegation of the Ministry of Revenue and Duties of Ukraine reached principle agreements with Russian partners to intensify the exchange of information between customs authorities of both countries. Now it is the main instrument for resolving and preventing problems during customs control on the Ukrainian-Russian border. In particular, intergovernmental bilateral consultations will be held regularly and joint approaches in addressing issues affecting the interests of Ukrainian and Russian companies will be produced.
The customs authorities also note the relationship of the two economies: not only Ukraine in key industries depends on Russia, but also Russian companies in the energy, transport, aviation sectors depend on Ukraine.
In the first six months of 2013 Russia ranked fourth in terms of foreign direct investment in Ukraine, which accounted for USD 3.822 billion.
