Boiko calls on investors to help Ukraine become energy independent
KYIV, February 27 /UKRINFORM/. Ukraine's desire to achieve energy independence in the next decade requires support from investors and the international community.
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Yuriy Boiko said this at the 4th annual international conference "Ukrainian Energy Forum," which was organized in Kyiv by the Adam Smith Institute.
"We have ambitious plans, clearly understand the situation and see the steps that need to be taken. In order to realize these plans, we need the support of the international community, private investors and parliament - to improve the legislation. I'm confident that with the growth of interest in our country and economic growth we will resolve these issues and become energy independent in the next decade, as defined by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych. The government is working on this," the government portal quoted Boiko as saying.
The Ukrainian Energy Forum was attended by representatives of Ukrainian ministries and agencies, public and private energy companies, as well as leading Ukrainian and foreign experts in the energy sphere.
The fourth annual conference of the Adam Smith Institute "Ukrainian Energy Forum" envisages the consideration of the key priorities of Ukraine's national energy strategy and ways of its implementation, the discussion of the energy sector in a global context, issues related to the production of unconventional gas in Ukraine, as well as several other topics relating to the state and prospects of the development of Ukraine's fuel and energy complex.
