European integration a strategy for Ukraine - Kinakh

KYIV, December 22 /UKRINFORM/. European integration is a priority for Ukraine, President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, MP Anatoliy Kinakh told the press on Friday.

"The European vector of integration in the economic and political space is our strategy; this is an opportunity to modernize the economy. 80% of foreign direct investment comes from the EU, as well as cutting-edge technologies, so entry into the European structures is not just opportunism... Our future is with European integration," Kinakh said.

He also stressed that the Customs Union means to Ukraine 40% of its foreign trade turnover. “This is $70 billion of annual turnover. We must be present there, but not to the detriment of forming a modern economy. We need to seek a balance of national interests at the negotiating table, and to do so without any political or economic pressure," the ULIE head underscored.
