Only 51% of Ukrainian state-owned enterprises operate now, while only 32% are efficient and profitable.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman announced this at a press conference on the results of the government activity for the past year, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"There are 3,500 state-owned enterprises now in Ukraine, not taking into account the public utility companies. Fifty-one percent of these companies really work, while I cannot say for sure what is going on with the rest forty-nine percent. It's simply impossible to manage such a large number of enterprises," Groysman said.

According to him, Ukraine lost UAH 82 billion due to ineffective management and corruption at the state-owned enterprises for ten years.

"Thirty-two percent of state enterprises are profitable, while seventy percent are inefficient. We have no other option than to sell them to an effective owner," Groysman added.
