“General Syrskyi was awarded this medal for his personal contribution to the defense of Ukraine. His life and selfless actions in fulfilling his duty to his country are a remarkable example of courage and resilience, and a vivid illustration of the determination of the Ukrainian people and their proud struggle against Russian aggression,” Claesson noted.

He emphasized that Syrskyi is defending not only Ukraine but also the freedom, democracy, and territorial integrity of the rest of Europe.
