Ukraine, Canada sign agreement to boost weapons production

Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

He said the agreement was signed with Canada’s Minister of National Defence David McGuinty in the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney.

The agreement is aimed at deepening bilateral defense-industrial cooperation, expanding and creating new production facilities in Ukraine and Canada, and strengthening the resilience and continuity of defense supply chains.

“It is important that today’s arrangements will not only facilitate the establishment of Ukrainian companies in Canada and promote technology exchange, but also help provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with modern types of weapons and military equipment in the long term. This will significantly strengthen our resilience and ability to counter the Russian threat,” Shmyhal stressed.

He expressed gratitude to Canada for its solidarity and steadfast support for Ukraine in its struggle for freedom and independence.

As reported, on August 24, President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss security guarantees, drone production and sanctions against Russia.
