Latvia sends 1,500 UAVs to Ukraine as part of ‘Drone Coalition’

Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds announced the delivery, Ukrinform reports, referring to LRT.

"Another 1,500 combat drones are being shipped from Latvia to Ukraine. Two Latvian companies will supply a total of 12,000 drones in the first half of the year as part of an international drone coalition," Spruds wrote, sharing a photo of the drones prepared for shipment.

According to media reports, this marks Latvia's third recent drone delivery, with previous batches of 1,500 units arriving on April 1 and April 29.

The International Drone Coalition was established in February 2024 during the 19th meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense. It is jointly led by the United Kingdom and Latvia. The coalition currently consists of 18 countries: Australia, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, New Zealand, and Ukraine.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Sweden has allocated SEK 4.8 billion (over USD 502 million) to Ukraine to strengthen its defense capabilities.
