In the training of marines, the training of helmsmen who operate small boats - “drivers” - is still relevant. In addition to the Basic combined arms training (BCT), drivers are trained for two weeks in the Navy training centers.

This was reported by the commander of the 30th Marine Corps of the Ukrainian Navy, Major General Dmytro Deliatytskyi, in an interview with Ukrinform.

“The training of so-called “drivers” is also very important now, these are the helmsmen who control small boats. Each of our military units has the appropriate staff units. Training for positions in these units also takes place at the Navy's training centers and lasts for two weeks. This time is generally enough to teach a person how to operate small boats,” said Deliatytskyi.

He added that work is underway to maintain the training of personnel for possible actions in water areas and reservoirs, which is included in the training programs.

“We understand that if necessary, we must be able to fulfill our tasks. However, it is not up to us to decide how to deploy marine units at the operational level. We act in accordance with the tasks and priorities assigned to us by our superiors. That is, we act where there is the greatest need,” explained Deliatytskyi.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on April 9, Vice Admiral Oleksii Neizhpapa, Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, inspected the training of marines under the Contract 18-24 program.
