Finland announces new military aid package to Ukraine

As reported by The Guardian, the announcement was made during a meeting between Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, according to Ukrinform.

The package is currently pending approvals by the Finnish government and President. Details of the aid package have not been disclosed.

With this package, Finland's total value of aid to Ukraine will increase to 3.3 billion euros.

According to Reuters, the Finnish Ministry of Defense has included artillery ammunition in the aid package.

During the meeting, the ministers also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on defense cooperation between the defense ministries of Ukraine and Finland. It includes provisions on data sharing, ammunition production, and joint defense projects.

Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen stated that this agreement is based on the support provided to Ukraine over the past three years, as Finland "shares the same view of the Russian threat in light of our historical experience."

“This memorandum of understanding is an indication that we want to further expand and deepen this cooperation for the benefit of both countries,” he said.

As reported by Ukrinform, on Monday, March 10, Finland announced it would send humanitarian aid worth 16 million euros to Ukraine.
