Norway will increase its Nansen Support Programme for Ukraine funding to $7.7 billion this year.

This was reported by Ukrinform citing the Ukrainian Parliament's Facebook page.

The decision was made during a meeting between Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and political parties in the Storting (Norwegian Parliament).

The Ukrainian parliamentary delegation was present at the speech by the Norwegian Prime Minister.

Støre expressed strong support for Ukraine, emphasizing that a weak ceasefire would only give Russia time to regroup, rather than ensuring lasting peace. According to him, Europe, particularly Norway, should independently strengthen its defense and support Ukraine.

He also mentioned that European countries are coordinating a common peace plan that takes Ukraine’s interests into account.

Galina Mikhailiuk, head of the Ukrainian delegation, assured the Prime Minister that the funds provided by Norway would be used as efficiently as possible. She also presented Støre with a fragment of a Russian tank destroyed by Norwegian weapons in August 2022 near Izium, Kharkiv region.

The Nansen Support Programme for Ukraine is a Norwegian civil and military support program amounting to 75 billion Norwegian kroner for the period 2023-2027.

Last year, the Norwegian Parliament agreed to allocate 35 billion Norwegian kroner (approximately $3.22 billion) for military and civilian support to Ukraine in 2025.
