Netherlands considering allocating EUR 3.5B in aid to Ukraine in 2026

According to Ukrinform, citing NOS, the total amount of aid provided by the Netherlands so far has reached approximately €5.8 billion.

“In the debate, Prime Minister Schoof promised that approximately 3.5 billion euros would be made available in 2026 for aid to Kyiv. According to him, this is a continuation of the line that has been set in motion in recent years. The coalition agreement states that the Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine ‘unabatedly’. To date, our country has provided approximately 5.8 billion euros in aid,” the report states

There is a significant majority in the House of Representatives in favor of continuing the support at the level of €3.5 billion. However, full agreement within the coalition has not yet been reached.

Geert Wilders, leader of the far-right Party for Freedom (PVV), stated that the largest governing party would only agree to this allocation if greater efforts were also made to reduce food prices and lower electricity bills.

During the debates in the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Dick Schoof also emphasized that peace in Europe cannot be maintained without U.S. military power. Therefore, the Dutch government is focusing on improving relationship with President Trump.

"We have to be realistic: without the U.S., it won't work, certainly not in the short term," the prime minister said.

As reported by Ukrinform, Prime Minister Schoof discussed with President Volodymyr Zelensky the possibility of investing €700 million in drone production, partially intended for Ukraine.
