A total of 538 employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) have voluntarily transferred to combat units to defend the country.

SES Chief Andriy Danyk said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

He stated that these employees submitted official requests, completed the transfer process, and are now serving on the front lines.

Addressing concerns about staffing shortages within the SES, Danyk noted that the service currently operates with a 25% personnel deficit. However, he emphasized that government support has ensured that all operational personnel remain in their positions.

"Beyond tasks related to frontline combat, everyday emergencies still occur -- such as domestic fires and other incidents that we handled even in peacetime," Danyk said.

He stressed the importance of maintaining an adequate number of rescuers to ensure quick and effective emergency response.

"At the moment, we have an optimal number of staff capable of providing assistance to the population and managing the aftermath of emergencies and other incidents," he said.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that the SES refuted claims about the large-scale mobilization of its personnel, clarifying that 90% of its staff remains in service.
