Umerov discusses ammunition production, air defense needs with Norwegian DM

According to Ukrinform, Umerov shared details of the meeting on Facebook.

During the discussion, Umerov congratulated Sandvik on his appointment and emphasized the importance of his role in the current security environment. He also briefed his Norwegian counterpart on Ukraine's defense strategy for 2025 and the current needs of the country's security and defense forces.

A key focus of the talks was the formation and equipping of the "Northern" Brigade, which will be supported by Scandinavian and Baltic countries, as well as one of Ukraine’s critical needs – interceptor missiles for air defense and missile defense systems.

The ministers also explored potential industrial partnerships, particularly in ammunition production.

"Ukraine is open to the mutual development of defense industries and will facilitate cooperation between Norwegian and Ukrainian companies. Securing additional funding to meet urgent defense needs remains a key priority," Umerov stated.

He thanked Norway for its significant support and leadership in the Maritime Capabilities Coalition.

"We look forward to continued active cooperation and are confident that Ukraine will also be a reliable partner for our Norwegian friends," Umerov added.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Umerov is currently in Brussels participating in the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in the Ramstein format.
