Ukrainian serviceman killed in JFO zone

Russian-backed forces violated the ceasefire in the Joint Forces Operation area in eastern Ukraine three times as of 11:00 on September 30, killing one Ukrainian soldier, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's press service has reported.

"One Joint Forces serviceman sustained a fatal wound in enemy shelling," the report said.

Near Novotoshkivske, Luhansk region, the invaders fired at Ukrainian positions from grenade launchers of various systems, large-caliber machine guns, and small arms. Near Kamianka, Donetsk region, the enemy used 122mm artillery.

In addition, Russian mercenaries fired from automatic grenade launchers towards Popasna, Luhansk region.

Ukrainian service members returned fire, making the enemy stop the attack, the ministry's press service said.

Earlier reports said that Russian-led forces committed seven ceasefire violations in the JFO zone on September 29.
