OSCE delegates arrive at ‘Zolote’ entry-exit checkpoint due to escalation in eastern Ukraine

Following the escalation in the Joint Forces Operation area, the OSCE delegates met with representatives of the Ukrainian side of the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) on ceasefire and stabilization of the contact line in the area of ​​“Zolote” entry-exit checkpoint in Luhansk region.

“Due to the aggravation of the security situation in the operational zone of the JFO area, Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre Tuula Yrjölä and Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Mark Etherington initiated a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian side of the JCCC, which took place in the area of ‘Zolote’ entry-exit checkpoint on September 15,” the press service of the Joint Forces Operation Headquarters posted on Facebook.

During the meeting, representatives of the Ukrainian side of the JCCC condemned the failure of the armed formations of the Russian Federation to comply with the ceasefire regime and discussed the aggravation of the situation.

The OSCE representatives assured the Ukrainian side of the constant monitoring of the situation and promised to take all necessary measures to prevent ceasefire violations.

The Ukrainian side of the JCCC informed the OSCE representatives that the Armed Forces of Ukraine reserved the right to give an adequate response using the necessary forces and means in case of further escalation and non-compliance with the ceasefire regime by the armed formations of the Russian Federation,

As reported, during September 11-12, militants fired at Ukrainian defenders, killing four members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and wounding 13 more.

Moreover, the occupiers systematically shell the localities of Novohnativka, Verkhniotoretske, Kriakivka, Marinka, plant mines near the disengagement area outside Zolote, posing a direct threat to the lives of members of the Armed Forces and civilians. In addition, shelling of a vehicle of the Ukrainian side of the JCCC was recorded near the village of Shumy.
