OSCE recorded 741 ceasefire violations in eastern Ukraine over past weekend

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) recorded 608 ceasefire violations in Donetsk region and 133 in Luhansk region between the evenings of 16 and 18 July, according to an OSCE SMM report.

"In Donetsk region, between the evenings of 16 and 18 July, the SMM recorded 608 ceasefire violations, including 64 explosions (11 impacts, nine airbursts, ten outgoing and 34 undetermined)," the report reads.

The majority of ceasefire violations occurred in an area east of Maiorsk (government-controlled, 45km north-east of Donetsk).

In Luhansk region, between the evenings of 16 and 18 July, the SMM recorded 133 ceasefire violations, including 21 undetermined explosions.

The majority of ceasefire violations occurred inside and in areas near the disengagement area near Zolote (government-controlled, 60km west of Luhansk).

Following agreement reached at the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on 22 July 2020 regarding additional measures to strengthen the ceasefire, from 00:01 on 27 July 2020 until the end of the reporting period, the SMM has recorded at least 45,782 ceasefire violations in both Donetsk and Luhansk regions (including 13,431 explosions, 8,572 projectiles in flight, 262 muzzle flashes, 160 illumination flares and at least 23,357 bursts and shots).
