Participants in the Trilateral Contact Group discussed measures to prevent further ceasefire violations in Donbas at the security subgroup meeting on October 30.

“The Ukrainian delegation demanded that the Russian side take immediate measures to stop the ceasefire violations and the escalation of the armed conflict, which shows signs of being pre-planned, and asked the OSCE representatives for assistance,” the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG posted on Facebook.

"Results: First, the parties discussed the incidents that took place and led to tragic consequences. Second, the parties agreed to observe the ceasefire regime. Third, the parties discussed measures to prevent further ceasefire violations," the Ukrainian delegation informed.

In addition, the parties agreed to continue consultations at the next TCG meeting scheduled for November 10.

It is noted that Ambassador Yaşar Halit Çevik, the Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine and moderator of the TCG security subgroup, supported the parties' intentions to adhere to the ceasefire regime.

At the same time, as emphasized in the publication, “the Ukrainian delegation understands that a guaranteed agreement is possible only when the main player, who stands behind one of the parties on the contact line, allows reaching agreements. Therefore, the Ukrainian delegation still has a question: do our counterparts understand the full extent of their responsibility for the possible escalation of the armed conflict?”

On the night of October 30, two Ukrainian soldiers were killed in Russian occupiers’ shelling. In addition, two servicemen were wounded on October 29.

In this regard, the Ukrainian delegation initiated an extraordinary meeting of the security subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the situation in Donbas on October 30.
