EU allocates additional 3.2 mln to support OSCE mission in Ukraine

 “The EU will provide a further €3.2 million for the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, bringing the EU’s total financial engagement in this Mission to €52 million. The EU will also increase its support for civilian protection in eastern Ukraine with €1 million to enable the implementation of Ukraine’s Strategy on Protection of Civilians, once adopted,” reads the press release on the website of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

In addition, the EU will finance the reconstruction of a modern administrative services centre in Stanytsia Luhanska, which will ensure effective access to services for Ukrainian citizens in line with the decentralisation reform and ranging from pension fund services to the real estate register.

As noted, the EU will also allocate €1 million to support the resilience of the Sea of Azov region by contributing to improving the reliability and availability of information on the region and its immediate, medium and long-term needs.

The EU Delegation to Ukraine underscores that the EU, together with its Member States is the biggest provider of conflict response assistance to Ukraine amounting to €762.5 million since the beginning of the conflict in 2014, of which approximately half accounts for humanitarian aid. The EU and its Member States are the biggest contributor to the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission and are the biggest donor of humanitarian and early recovery assistance. Overall, EU support to Ukraine since 2014 totals over €15 billion in grants and concessional loans in support of the country's unprecedented reform agenda, political association to and economic integration with the EU.
