Foreign minister Prystaiko: Disengagement of forces in Petrivske postponed
“As for the disengagement of forces in Petrivske that has not started. You know that according to our estimates, the disengagement was supposed to begin today, but several days ago there were attacks in the disengagement area, not just somewhere in the area, but in the specific disengagement area, which was also recorded by the OSCE SMM. Therefore, we had to postpone the disengagement until, as we agreed in 2016, a seven-day ceasefire period is reached,” Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko said at a joint briefing with Foreign Minister of Estonia Urmas Reinsalu, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to him, as soon as seven days of ceasefire are reached, the Ukrainian side will be ready for the next stage of the disengagement.
At the same time, the minister stressed that the disengagement of forces in Petrivske would mark the fulfillment of all prerequisites for holding a meeting of the Normandy format leaders.
"We hope that the Russian Federation will find time for the four leaders to meet," Prystaiko added, assuring that the German, French and Ukrainian sides are ready for the meeting.
As reported, according to the OSCE SMM report dated October 31, the last ceasefire violation by illegal armed formations of the Russian Federation within site No. 3 of Petrivske was recorded on October 30.
The JFO Headquarters stressed that, according to the Minsk agreements, the condition for the start of the disengagement of forces and hardware is the verification of adherence to complete ceasefire for seven days by the OSCE SMM.
