Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, US Congress delegation discuss expansion of military-technical cooperation

“The Defense Minister of Ukraine acquainted foreign guests with the priority areas of activity of the Government and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in order to strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and also focused on the invariability of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations. When discussing the priority areas of U.S. Government’s assistance to Ukraine, the parties considered the possibility of expanding military-technical cooperation between the two countries,” the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports.

According to the Ukrainian defense minister, comprehensive U.S. support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine has had a significant impact on the situation in Ukraine over the past five years.

As noted, Zahorodniuk informed about the main directions of the Ministry’s activity in combating corruption risks, especially in the procurement field, highlighting the clear stance of the new Government on zero tolerance for corruption.

The U.S. Congress delegation was led by John Garamendi, Chairman of the Readiness Subcommittee within the House Armed Services Committee. The meeting was also attended by members of the U.S. House of Representatives Vicky Hartzler, John Shimkus, David Loebsack, Jennifer Aydin González Colón, Thomas Charles O'Halleran and Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. of the United States Embassy in Ukraine William B. Taylor.
